Naturopathy

"Harmony is eating and resting, sleeping and waking; balance in all that you do. This is the path to peace." (Bhagavad Gita, 6th Century BC)

Naturopathy is a multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare, which encourages and promotes the body’s natural self-healing mechanism. The naturopathic practitioner employs a variety of diagnostic methods and treatment to guide the patient back to vibrant health or prevent ill-health. Treatments include nutrition, lifestyle advice, herbal medicine, homeopathy, tissue salts and flower remedies.

Naturopathic philosophy believes that physical, mental and emotional factors all contribute to a person’s health.  Every individual is considered unique and given a treatment protocol to meet their particular requirements.

Nutrition

"Let food be thy medicine, and medicine thy food" (Hippocrates)

The food you eat everyday forms the building blocks of your body. The ‘right’ foods will nourish you and make you vital, the ‘wrong’ foods will create daily stress for your body. Eating the correct diet, tailored to your individual requirements, will give you the foundation for good health.

You will receive a full naturopathic protocol to target any immediate health concerns as well as long-term well-being. This will include an eating plan, based on your constitution, supplementation recommendations and general lifestyle advice.

Herbal Medicine

"Herb’s are natures own medicine cabinet" (Fiona Grant)

Herbalism is the oldest form of medicine. Many pharmaceutical drugs are based on the active elements of plants. However, herbalists believe that the plants have a complex biochemical structure, and the total plant in balance provides healing. A plant naturally contains substances to counter-act any side-effects making it safer and easier to use. For example, asprin is a single part of the Willow Bark plant. It is a wonderful pain-reliever, but it can irritate stomachs. As Herbalists, we use the entire Willow Bark to help allieviate stomach irriation.

Herbs can be used to target specific problems, such as eczema or indigestion, or used as a tonic to strengthen and relax your nervous system. Many herbs, known as adaptogens, are scientifically proven to increase vitality and help your body withstand stress.

Individual herbal formulas are made to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Reiki

Energy Healing

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, an energy which is all around us. It is the name given to a system of natural healing which evolved in Japan from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926). Reiki heals on physical, mental, emotional or spiritual levels, as the body requires. It flows to the areas of need, soothing pain and supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself, restoring balance in one's life.

These sessions are very relaxing, with clients experiencing benefits sometimes after only one session. More sessions may be required for more chronic conditions. Reiki is a great compliment to other naturopathic therapies.
